The Two-Week Triumph
A Day with Cass Money
It’s been two weeks, and I’m thrilled to report that Cassian has finally stopped crying multiple times throughout the night. I have to be honest, during these past two weeks, I did consider giving him away—twice, in fact. But thankfully, no one took me up on my offer. Now, I couldn’t be happier that he’s still with me. This little guy has a personality that’s larger than life. He’s playful, crazily lazy, and absolutely loves his food. Super smart too—it took him just a day or two to master the "sit" command. We’re currently working on "stay," though he hasn’t quite figured that one out yet. But for such a young pup, he’s impressively sharp.
Cassian follows me everywhere, not believing in personal space one bit. He loves stepping on my feet or staying in constant contact with them whenever we’re not moving. Despite his endearing quirks, we’re still dealing with the challenge of crate training. The little guy has a habit of peeing and pooping wherever he pleases inside his crate, so I decided to get him a playpen. This way, he could at least walk out of his crate and have some space. But every time I came home, I still found him sleeping or lying in his mess, so I’ve become an expert at giving him three baths a day.
After noticing that Cassian always preferred to go on grass when we were outside, I decided to bring a bit of the outdoors inside. I bought some grass for the house, hoping it would encourage him to stop soiling his crate. It worked like a charm—he started using the grass instead of his crate. But after two weeks, my allergies couldn’t take it anymore, so I had to take the grass away. I put the pee pads back out, and to my surprise, Cassian started using them! The only downside? He still insists on sleeping on the pads after he’s used them.
Looking back, these past two weeks have been challenging, but they’ve also shown me just how much personality Cassian has. From his refusal to believe in personal space to his quick learning, this little guy is full of surprises. Cassian may be a work in progress, but seeing him make strides—even small ones—makes it all worthwhile. Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.
Until next time, keep those tails wagging and the treats coming!
